Mailbox Monday is a gathering place for readers to share books that came into their house and explore great book blogs. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Mailbox Monday was created by Marcia at Hooked by a Book (formerly The Printed Page) and is now being hosted at http://mailboxmonday.wordpress.com/

I've been away this month for a short vacation and so these are the books that arrived recently.

These were sent from the publishers and authors for review...

....and these were bought for my Nook.

Can't wait to dig into these!

This month Mailbox Monday is being hosted by Notorius Spinks Talks. The wonderful weekly meme gives us a chance to shout out books that appeared in our mailboxes (real or virtual) so here is what appeared in my mailbox this week.

Well, this past week my husband took off on a golf outing and left me home by myself for 4 days.  The fee for this desertion was my book bill!
I supposed I could have "punished" him more but I didn't want to get greedy.  I got these for my Nook in my virtual mailbox.

I was absolutely delighted when the mailman delivered this newest Laura Childs Scrapbooking cozy.   Ms. Childs has been generous to me in sending her new books, I'll definitely be putting this at the top of the TBR pile.

I finally managed to find a copy used in the upper Northwest - a bargain at $5.  This will move me one more President further in my USPC.

The White House

With my President's Challenge it seem a no brainer to request this book from the LibraryThing Early Reviewer's program.  I'm just glad I won it!

Well, I actually bought a book this week.  I had it on my wishlist and got a coupon for 20% off so I broke down and actually purchased a book.

An historical fiction novel set on the Titanic.

But then as a surprise, I won an ARC from Random House.

A tale of friendship during World War II

and last but not least

NetGalley awarded me the next book in the Rose Harbor series by Debbie Macomber.  I couldn't wait, sat right down and read it.

The mailbox was good o me this week!

I've been luck enough to win this third in the series from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers Giveaway.  Love this series and I'm really anxious to read it.

Well, I was away from home last week, so of course, my mailbox was stuffed with all the letters, advertisements, junk mail from an entire week, but lucky for me there was one book sent to me.
I entered a giveaway on Avery Aames website and won my choice of books from her Cheese series.  Since I already owned The Long Quiche Goodbye and Lost and Fondue, it seemed logical for me to choose  Clobbered by Camembert.  Avery was kind enough to sign the book for me as well.  Looking forward to a cheesy spring!
What showed up in your mailbox?

I hadn't picked up the mail for a few days, and when I opened the mailbox it was stuffed!  At the bottom was an envelope from Laura Childs with her new book

SWEET TEA REVENGE
I had this one on my list for 2013 for the "You make Me Feel Brand New" Category.  It's publication date is March 5th, so it looks like a February read for me!  Thanks, Laura!

Well, what to my wondering eyes should appear....I ran out to do some errands, and when I got home and picked up the mail, yeah, two books were in the box.
Manifest Injustice: The True Story of a…

In this remarkable legal page-turner, Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Barry Siegel recounts the dramatic, decades-long saga of Bill Macumber, imprisoned for thirty-eight years for a double homicide he denies committing. In the spring of 1962, a school bus full of students stumbled across a mysterious crime scene on an isolated stretch of Arizona desert: an abandoned car and two bodies. This brutal murder of a young couple bewildered the sheriff ’s department of Maricopa County for years. Despite a few promising leads—including several chilling confessions from Ernest Valenzuela, a violent repeat offender—the case went cold.

Chesapeake Crimes by Donna Andrews
Tales of mystery, mayhem and murder from fifteen of the Chesapeake Bay region's most talented crime writers. Includes the Agatha and Anthony award-winning story, "Wedding Knife" by Elaine Viets and a foreword by Laura Lippman.

Loads of fun coming in two little packages!

Sounds like an interesting concept.

PRINCESS ELIZABETH'S SPY by Susan Elia MacNeal

I got this book from LibraryThing's Early Reviewer's program.  I had requested it and wasn't sure that I'd win it, but I decided that I really wanted it so that I requested it from NetGalley as well hoping to win it from one of the sites - I lucked out and won both, so I am doubly responsible for a review.;  Better get to it soon - oh, what a hardship (can't wait!)

The Outcast

Synopsis:
In 1957 Lewis Aldridge, newly released from prison, returns home to Waterford, a suburban town outside London. He is nineteen years old. A decade earlier his father's homecoming at war's end was greeted with far less apprehension by the staid, tightly knit community—thanks to Gilbert Aldridge's easy acceptance of suburban ritual and routine. Nobody is surprised that Gilbert's wife counters convention, but the entire community is shocked when, after one of their jaunts, Lewis comes back without her.
No one in Waterford wants Lewis back—except Kit, a young woman who sympathizes with his grief and burgeoning rage. But in her attempts to set them both free, Kit fails to foresee the painful and horrifying secrets that must first be forced into the open. The consequences for Lewis, his family, and the tightly knit community are devastating.

My lovely friend, Linda, sent this to me.  I think she's afraid I'll run out of things to read.  Just joking.  She passes a few books to me that she thinks I'll enjoy.
