Melanie has been holding classes for couples at the bakery and in the middle of one her Mom, Joyce, comes in because she needs help buying a dress for a date that she has. This being the first date for her Mom since her Dad's death 10 years before, Melanie agrees to help her go shopping. The next day, after numerous shops, Melanie tries to bribe an elderly man sitting outside the dressing rooms, to say that her mom looks great in whatever she comes out in. When Joyce appears, the man keels over with an apparent heart attack. Joyce decides that the dress is a knockout and buys it on the spot.

The evening of the date, Melanie gets a call from her mother, to come quickly, she thinks the dress has killed the man she was out with. The antics in this book as terribly amusing with love life problems abounding. The mystery wasn't terribly heavy but the storytelling was great.

Nice quick little cozy which has me craving cupcakes!
