Betsy Devonshire is the owner of Crewel World and her store manager , Godwin DuLac, turns up at her door, having been thrown of the house by his long time lover, John Nye. Betsy takes him and tries to calm him down but when his clothes arrive the next day, Goddy knows its over. Not knowing of the breakup, John's secretary calls Goddy to see if he knows where John is because he didn't show up for work. Goddy and Betsy go to the house and find John dead. Of course, Goddy is the rime suspect so when he is arrested, Betsy sets out to clear his name, and the investigation and its results are terribly amusing if a bit predictable.
